Ok, my boy Joost at Renascent just posted three new videos in the Motion category. Go visit, then feel inspired. Look at the first three under "Motion Graphics / Commercial Projects."
Renascent.

Addendum:

I emailed Renascent to ask a few questions... did he work in After Effects then into the 3D program, or vice versa? Also, I was curious as to why he works in such a long, wide format. Is it his client who requests it, why?

His answers:
"thanx, accept for the distortion and color corection its all 3ds max, so is the text
i just like widescreem, feel smore cinematic
cheers,
-jk"

OK, I'm posting now for two reasons. Number one, here's an interesting clip from the VMA on MTV from 2003. (here). Thanks to Computerlove.net for that one. The other reason... when this posts, I should get a nifty little Blogger bar at the top of my site that offers some fun new features, including the ability to use google to search my blog for previous posts. Awe. Some. Let's see if it works.

Joost Korngold, of Renascent fame (and coincidentally, one of my favorite motion designers) is interviewed by Design is Kinky. Seriously, this guys works out of a 3 meter x 3 meter space in his home and creates some of the most compelling media work out there. He reveals a mini "how-to" and shows his work process behind creating one of designiskinky's splash pages.

As the boys at Creative Cow have gotten fed up with the repetitive questions that are asked continually, they have begun to complie the AE Tips page, which shows off the most frequently asked questions, as well as gives good direction to those much needed resources you always forget the links to.

How can I get you started on a beautiful Monday morning such as this. Well, first let me suggest you browse over to DesignInMotion, and look at the two new promos that Buck created for the Fuse network. Simply breathtaking (and I mean that not in the Seinfield way). When you're done with that, I would suggest you visit go take another look at an old (and by old, I mean six months ago) favorite by MK12, called Brazil. My favorite part of this piece is the fact that they did it just because they wanted to, not for a client. This is a promotional piece that just flexes the muscles of MK12, the largest design collective I've ever seen. That's what I can offer you today. For the rest of the week, I'm working on one of my largest endevors yet, the video identity for New Spring's Dare you to Move series. We're designing this one top-down from all of the same elements, shot on location last Friday in beautiful downtown Anderson. It's quite an undertaking, but the result will be well worth it. Check back later in the week for some samples and renderings.

Aww... c'mon. Nike just continues to improve on just about everything. This piece is an in-store promotional / ambient video that will play in Europe. Great, clean use of 3D space. Via Computerlove.

Here's a little comp I threw together this afternoon while my right brain was running free. What are you going to do with it, Ken? I don't know, but I liked the way it turned out. I'll probably use it as a jumping off point for something else creative.

If you look at the top page of the AV Club, you'll see my first Side Project, a series of promo videos for Anderson College, here in Anderson, SC. Feel free to watch through the Quicktimes and comment back, I could use the input. My charge was to create 5 pieces that would highlight different aspects of the college, with the theme "A College with Spirit" driving the entire promotional. The videos will supplement a printed brochure, as well as a CD-ROM. The identity had already been set when I began work, so just I opted to use the "spirit of..." for each of the pieces. The footage was unfortunately not shot by yours truly, so I worked with what raw material was made available by the college. I was particularly proud of the Campus piece (video 03), where I was provided with about 800 stills taken around the college. It made for a nice creative opportunity, almost out of necessity. Take a look and let me know what you think.
