Music Video: Here is a short snippet of a song (with After Effects rendered visuals) performed at New Spring several weeks ago. The track is "Meant to Live" by Switchfoot, as performed by New Spring Community Church. This is a heavy download at 59 MB. Shot with a little handheld camera and using the on-board mic.

AEFlame Official Home Page - Plugin for Adobe After Effects

Today's find... actually found several weeks ago... is AE Flame. The link is above. This is a fractal generator for After Effects. It's strange to learn, but after an hour of tweaking, I'm starting to find some interesting uses for it. Always nice to find a program that lets me generate something without having to import a graphic file. Saves me time, makes life easier.

I hope to find a use for this plugin soon.

Ken

I just got "creating motion graphics w/ After Effects, vol. 2". oh yeah, it's the advanced version. I already have volume 1. Read it cover to cover. (except for the table of contents, I skipped that part). anyway, I want to be a code-junkie when I grow up. yeah, this book covers 38 pages of AFX expressions. ooey, gooey expressions. and there's a bonus 45 pages of PDF articles that go even deeper into code world.

It's going to get bad. I don't remember being this obsessed since I first got Tetris

San Francisco's DJ Amber DJ Amber has graciously posted some free mp3 tracks from her blog. I haven't downloaded these for a preview, yet (I'll wait until I'm at a faster connection), but I'll definitely give these a spin later.

Expressions - Introduction

This guy has it going on. Talk about knowing your expressions (and being a frickin' genius). This entire site is chock full of After Effects goodies for your reading pleasure. Assuming you're fairly familiar with expressions and what they are, this site will help you develop a deeper appreciation for them.

DesignInMotion - The Daily Motion Design Resource

It's been a while since I've mentioned this one, but this site is a daily visit for me. They post really good video openers, animations, music videos, commercials, and other great developments from designers all over. Usually, they will describe in loose detail the process by which they built the graphics, the programs they used. The best part, you can download the QuickTime videos instead of streaming them. I've built up quite a collection that I watch frequently for inspiration. This is worth a visit every few days or so to download the newest material.

Highly recommended.

Open-video.org is a good place to find full resolution videos of an old / classic nature. Want a commercial from the 60s? A school room video show on a projector in the 70s? How about a video of the first monkey in space. This site, hosted by a university in NC, offers all of these as a free resource for non-profit use (like school projects). Hmm.

What's new here. There are so many things. In case people do not know, New Spring (my church, my work) had its highest attendance ever this past Sunday. There were 3,221 people there! It's awesome to see God growing this church and constantly bringing people. I am fortunate to have a creative outlet where I can use my gifts that God has given me for his glory.

Also, Saturday before last we had baptism at New Spring. A total of 111 people were baptized onstage in a hot tub. It was great. Unfortunately for those getting dunk'd, the power breaker that controlled the heater in the hot tub tripped. Our pastor was chilled to the core. Fortunately, he drank another red bull or two and was fine.

I don't have any creative sites to direct you to today. Sorry. Maybe later.
