Someone else is Lost

Some say they don't sound much alike, but I'm convinced Anonymous Midwest Girl and Shua are the "writing style equivalents" of each other. If you don't see it, read her recent post about my personal favorite, Lost. Now that's funny.

the robot is after me

The Chemical Bros. new video Believe, is a stunning piece of work. If you can look past the first 30 seconds, it becomes absolutely amazing. If the robots were that cool, I don't think I'd mind them following me.

Burritos + TV = a good time

Tonight, LOST returned with its 19th episode, entitled "Deus Ex Machina." It was one of the best episodes yet, and the series continues not to disappoint. If you're not obsessed yet, you just don't know good TV. Oh, and Shua's suggestion of cooking very, very large burritos was a raving success, as well. Toppings such as feta, grilled potatos, marinated chicken, and beef... are you drooling, yet?

Lost and lovin' it

After a 4 week hiatus, ABC's top drama (so they define it), Lost, is coming back. For those who don't know me well (or haven't been within 10 feet of me since September), I've become officially obsessed. It's a bit sad, really, but all in good fun. Episode 19 airs this Wednesday on ABC at 8:00pm. If you strive to be the ultimate TV geek, I would suggest this Lost Forum. It keeps me heads above my other Lost geek friends.

And if it's really, really bad, you can preorder the DVD of the first season (which still has six episodes to wrap up before completion).

Well lookie what Google found

It appears as if The Tech Dig has come across something Adobe wasn't ready to show off. The Photoshop CS2 Press Release, scheduled for April 4th, was inadvertently placed online but not linked yet. However, the talons of Google did prevail, and located THIS PDF, detailing good things to come. Albeit a few days too soon.

Flash again

It's been a long while since I've visited Ultrashock. Shua and I used to frequent it when we were immersed in the world of Flash, a year or so back. I was digging through tonight, and found this beautiful site. And you can even write on the paper!

TANK THEORY BRAND CLOTHING (and grammar talk)

TANK THEORY has a nice selection of screen printed T's. As I write that, I am reminded about how much I had the apostrophe punctuation, because it gets so misused. In the case of "T's," I guess it can act as a contraction of "T-shirts." But for CDs... how does that work? Is it CD's? Do the compact disks own something? Or are you contracting the phrase "compact disks" into "CD's?" Now that my video nearing "render completion," perhaps I'll just let this little debate go.

just a little spring cleaning

AV Club gets a minimal face lift today. Just a few fresh pixels, nothing too fancy. Shua will be delving into and teaching me the finer points of CSS in a few weeks and a proper redesign is underway... but not until work settles down at newspring. There's a lot brewing in the next few weeks in the world of video and action graphics for us techies. Keep your eyes on the AV Club for some upcoming pieces, or better yet attend one of our 5 identical Easter Services this weekend. Saturday offers 4:30 and 6:00, and Sunday offers 8:30, 9:45, and 11:15.

So it's been a good weekend. My birthday was Friday and my wife bought me the object of my lust... hang on... I'm not going where you think I am. She purchased for me an ipod mini. I will give it a full review later, but as of now, it's ranking a 10 of 10 for me. Ease of use, great catalog, and... though it's tough to swallow the crow... great interface software (iTunes). Yes, it's a device that will serve me well for years to come (or 18 months, if the battery-rumors hold up). More to come...

The Orange Peel is hosting Autechre coming up in May. Anyone intersted in some glitchy strangeness? Read about them on their label site, WARP Records. Here's an audio sample. And to keep it in the motion graphics family, WARP has a beautiful, if not hard-to-navigate, site. I picked up their DVD video compilation a few months back and was oddly impressed. There are some gems, and a smattering of the unusual.

And the news for today: First, New Spring celebrates its 5th anniversary today. The house was definitely rockin' as the band opened with the Black Eyed Pea's Let's Get it Started... complete with rapper donning a black velor Addidas outfit. Numerous motion graphics pieces abounded (see last Thursday's post), and the Reverend Perry Noble (please, please don't call him that) laid it out for all to hear. Download the sermon here (after Monday). Exhausting, but a great time. Happy 5th, New Spring. You're in kindergarden, now.

And for the linkfest, Google has a new one. If you google (yeah, it's a verb) "weather ZIP CODE," you'll get the weather forecast for your area (assuming the ZIP CODE is yours). This is the weather for my house, if you're curious.
