It's been a busy few weeks. My computer's been tied up since last Monday rendering some large Lightwave files, but it's nearing the end. I found a few good tutorials over at www.newtek.com, the makers of Lightwave. Always a good place to start looking.

My most recent tip that I've learned... use Lightwave's "Digital Confusion" filter to simulate Depth of Field, while lowering render times. You can take your AA up to "Medium," and usde "DC" which is found under the Image Process TAB to get good results.

I've just gotten in my copy of After Effects 6.0, and I'm looking forward to taking that on. If anyone is interested in sharing AE info, e-mail me at this address.

Where do you find good resources for new media? I'm currently reading Computer Arts Magazine and Digit. Each month, they put out a great magazine full of information, tutorials, reviews of the newest hardware and software. They also interview new media designers who will let you take a glimpse into their work process. The magazines may seem expensive, but the software CD that is included with them is well worth it.

Two months ago, Digit released a special version of Wondertouch's Particle Illusion (the LE, or Lite Edition). It's proved to be invaluable for really slick particle effects. It's fast and easy to learn. That program along pays for the year's subscription. Very nice.

That's all for today. If you have any questions or would like to start up conversation, e-mail me at kgwilso@hotmail.com

Welcome to the first posting of the New Spring AV Club. This Blog is dedicated to the discussion of creative media, motion graphics, and computer arts. New Spring Community Church is located in Anderson, SC and at www.newspring.cc

New Spring believes in providing a relevant presentation of the message of Jesus Christ. We utilize the creativity and technology that God has given us. Excellence is a core value, so anything that is done at New Spring will be done to the best of our abilities.

I would like to Blog to be a place where we can discuss good, creative uses for technology in the church environment.
